Our Team and Board of Directors
At Baytna, we are proud to work with qualified, knowledgeable, and driven people who are dedicated to the empowerment of Syrian civil society - on our staff, our training partners, and on our Board of Directors.
The main team is now at our new headquarters in Brussels, with several colleagues working in Turkey. We also have many team members working inside Syria; for their own security, we cannot reveal their locations or their personal details.

Afra Jalabi
Afra Jalabi is a Syrian-Canadian writer whose interests revolve around language, religion, and nonviolence. She is currently the vice-president of Tastakel Organization and a Board Member of The Day After.

Rafif Jouejati
Rafif Jouejati, the current President of Baytna’s Board of Directors, has extensive political, humanitarian, and civil society experience in Syria. She also serves on the Board of Directors of The Day After and Nonviolence International.

Sabiha Khalil
Sabiha Khalil is a feminist advocate and a political activist. She is a founding member of the Syrian Kurdish first non-partisan women organization "Komela Jin" and the Syrian Women’s Network.

Bassma Kodmani
Bassma Kodmani is a scholar and university professor in France. She is currently a member of the negotiating team for the UN-led peace talks on Syria and a member of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.

Oula Ramadan is a human rights advocate and the founder and Director of Badael. She has over 14 years of experience in human rights, peacebuilding, and sexual and gender-based violence.
